St John’s Cottage Home was opened by the Catholic Church at Magill in January 1985 to provide accommodation for boys who were former residents of St John’s Boys’ Home at Brooklyn Park which was the boarding section of the Salesian School from 1954. The cottage provided accommodation for a small number of boys. St John’s Cottage Home closed in 1988.
